In recent years the Perth hotel scene has added some interesting new properties to its line up, from international luxury brands making their mark in Australia for the first time to global lifestyle hotels sharing their Aussie love.
Along with the latest Perth hotel openings we’re sharing some of the best additions from the last few years for those who haven’t made it back to Western Australia for a while.
Want to know the best new ways to stay in Perth in 2026? Let’s go…
The Garde
On a recent trip to Perth I stepped off a cruise ship within five minutes I was walking through the doors of Fremantle’s first five-star hotel, The Garde.
Part of Fremantle’s new Convict Quarter precinct the hotel has transformed the former Fremantle Police Headquarters into the city’s latest boutique stay. The Garde is just across the road from the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Fremantle Prison and the Fremantle Markets, and if you want to hop over to Rottnest Island to meet the quokkas it’s just a seven-minute drive to the nearest Rottnest Express ferry stop.
When The Garde opened in September 2025 it added 83 new rooms and suites to the existing Warders Hotel limestone cottages to create a total of 106 rooms with a new shared reception and spa area.
When I walked into my room in the new building I had a huge smile on my face as soon as I saw my bed with that view. In my Gus Premium room the king size bed sits in a box beside the floor to ceiling window to create a perfect frame for the Fremantle views outside. As you do need to hop up into the bed another room category would be best if you have mobility issues, but for me I felt like a kid as I hopped up, snuggled down and took in the view.
The bathroom included a rain shower and a large free-standing bath where the views ended thanks to the frosted glass. While I was a little disappointed I couldn’t look out, when I was outside looking back up at the hotel I could see why that was a smart design choice.
The complimentary mini bar includes local Fremantle brewed Calamity’s Rod continental lager, a small bottle of wine, chips and chocolate, and I was happy to find sparkling and still water refill stations on every floor along with a carafe to save water bottles while staying hydrated.
Hotel guests can drink and dine at Gimlet and Emily Taylor in the original Warders Hotel area, or in the Garde’s new signature restaurant Anglesea. Here chef Stuart Laws has created a menu featuring Japanese and Korean inspired dishes and after enjoying a set menu that included a delicious kangaroo tataki with ponzu and chilli crunch I went upstairs to my bed in a window box for very comfortable and deep sleep.
During your stay be sure to pay a visit to the World Heritage Fremantle Prison where you can take an above ground tour or better yet, join the Tunnels Tour where you can pop on a hardhat and get into a tiny boat to explore the underground tunnels built by prisoners.
HYDE Perth
Perth has joined international hot spots including London, Ibiza, Miami and Mexico City as a home to a HYDE. The 121-room HYDE Perth is found on Pier Street in the CBD and has the honour of being the first HYDE hotel in the world to be purpose built from the ground up.
The lifestyle hotel group’s bohemian luxe vibes can be felt in handcrafted rugs and custom furnishings, with lots of sunset colours in a nod to HYDE’s Californian origin story. Rooms come with Bose speakers, Lavazza coffee machines, Smeg kettles for us tea drinkers and bathrooms stocked with Bumble and Bumble products, while hotel amenities include a pool, 24hr fitness centre and valet parking.
The Grecian-inspired dining venue FARRA extends across the dining room, pool and terrace serving West Australian produce in Mediterranean dishes, and guests can expect cultural programs with local artists and musicians, along with beach club vibes with live DJs around the pool.
Wonil Hotel Perth – Handwritten Collection
Australia’s first Handwritten Collection hotel, Wonil Perth may be operated by Accor but it is a rare not-for-profit hotel where 100% of the revenue goes to supporting medical and scientific research at five WA universities.
The hotel looks out over the Swan River in the small suburb of Crawley about ten minutes from the CBD and is named after the Noongar word for the peppermint trees that you can find by the river. Indigenous art and sculptures can be admired in the lobby while the guest rooms retain a more minimal meets modern sleek look.
There are 66 rooms with custom wooden headboards and plush bedding, including some with river view balconies, accessible rooms and interconnecting options for families and friends.
New-ish kids on the block
With their 2020 opening dates this group has been around a little longer, but they’re still worth putting on your Perth hotel radar.
As crazy as it may seem now, spare a thought for the fact that these hotels opened when Covid-19 saw Western Australia close its borders not just to international travellers but to fellow Aussies in different states for 697 days. That’s not a typo. 697 days. Which meant even frequent interstate travellers to WA had two years of new Perth hotels to catch up on when those borders finally reopened.
DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront
We know we shouldn’t get excited about a hotel opening because of a cookie. But we’ll confess coookieeee!! was one of our first thoughts when we first heard Perth was getting its own DoubleTree hotel.

Of course, they have a few more things going on for them at the DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront.
The 229-room hotel, which opened in December 2020, has spectacular views over the Swan River from the infinity pool and the 18 Knots Rooftop bar, an open kitchen serving up seasonal WA produce and seafood in the Reel Kitchen, and a deli and bakery on the boardwalk with Oar Bistro.
And if you’re looking for new places to host meetings and events, they’ve got you covered with five meeting rooms and 410sqm of total event space.
Quest Perth Ascot
Another late 2020 opening, the Quest Perth Ascot is found between Perth Airport and the city centre. If you’re spending the night before a flight it’s only 3km to the airport and the hotel can arrange a shuttle for you.
As this is an apartment hotel, every one of the 112 rooms are self contained. Studios come with kitchenettes, while the one and two bedroom rooms are equipped with full kitchen and laundry facilities.
The hotel also includes conference facilities and a business lounge for when you’re in work mode, and a gym and swimming pool for when you’re on you time.
Vibe Hotel Subiaco
Not only does this one make the new Perth hotels list, it also marks the opening of Subiaco’s first lifestyle hotel.
As of October 2020, the inner-city suburb is home to the Vibe Hotel Subiaco, a 168-room hotel where the versatile guest rooms that can be transformed into three-bedroom suites.

The Vibe Hotel Subiaco has a rooftop pool, gym and conference space. On the ground floor St Marks Road Co. serves up coffee and café style bites, though if you’re staying on the weekend they’re only open Monday to Friday 7.30-11am.
But don’t panic, breakfast is served seven days a week on the rooftop Storehouse Restaurant and Bar, and is also open for lunch Thursday to Saturday and dinner Tuesday to Saturday, with 360 degree views over Perth city and Kings Park.
Parmelia Hilton
While it may not be a new hotel as such, the Parmelia Hilton still feels like one after a $45 million transformation.
The 53-year-old hotel unveiled its new look when it reopened in February 2021, and now features locally inspired design and artwork, a fresh take on its restaurant and executive lounge, and a new thoroughfare connecting the hotel lobby to the Brookfield Place precinct.
Perth’s new Parmelia Hilton also has an additional 32 new rooms with guests invited to use completely touchless digital key technology during their stay.
And that brings us to the end of the new Perth hotels crop. Here’s to great WA stays ahead.
