… This is a guest post by Paige Riddiford …

Magical Melbourne has an abundance of things to see and do. As one of the greatest and most loved cities in the world, the huge amount of attractions shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Finding the time to fit them all in, however, can be quite the challenge, so we’ve rounded them down and created this list of the very best Melbourne attractions you should visit.

Take a helicopter flight over Victoria

Whizz over the beautiful Southern Coast on an incredible helicopter flight. As one of the best things to do in Melbourne, it’s the perfect treat for a loved one or a fantastic way to mark a special occasion, like an anniversary or birthday.

Packed with photo opportunities, the seven-minute ride gives you a bird’s eye view of Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove and the mouth of the Barwon River on Victoria’s most southern coast. You’ll even get to see iconic views of the start of the Great Ocean Road

Visit the Laneways

As one of the most iconic Melbourne attractions, wandering the laneways to pick up a bite to eat and a cup of the world’s best coffee is a daily occurrence for locals. For tourists, it’s a highlight of visiting the city.

Shop at the Queen Victoria Market

Bustling and filled with fresh produce, bars and entertainment, Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market is one of the largest in the southern hemisphere.

Head to the deli hall to sample delicious cheeses, listen to buskers and grab a drink as you look around the many stalls. With over 600 traders at the open-air market, it’s the perfect way to spend a morning in the city.

The Wednesday evening summer night market is particularly popular with tourists, with arts and entertainment from 5pm until 10pm.

Wander the Royal Botanic Gardens

The city’s botanic gardens are a focal point of the city and perfect for stretching your legs. With beautiful blooms and gorgeous views of the Yarra River, the 38-hectare gardens are one of the most popular attractions in the city.

The river passes some of the city’s most iconic sites including Melbourne Park, the home of the Australian Open and the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens.
