While your Darwin luxury accommodation options used to be a tad on the limited side, over the years they have grown and now include luxury resorts, hotels, apartments, and holiday homes.

The northernmost capital city in Australia, Darwin is both the gateway to incredible outback adventures and a great place to enjoy a city stay.

The Northern Territory’s capital is the first stop on your way to Kakadu and Litchfield National Park, while the city itself has great museums and art galleries, including some wonderful places to explore local Aboriginal arts, as well as a strong Asian influence particularly in the city’s food scene.

When it’s time to book your Darwin getaway here are some of the best ways to stay in style.

Mercure Darwin Airport Resort

You don’t have to go far to find one of Darwin’s best luxury hotels when the Darwin Airport Resort is just 350m from the airport.

Australia’s first airport resort has new luxe villas, new executive suites and a new vibe after $41 million was spent bringing the Novotel, Mecure and Ibis hotels together into one big resort.

The transformation has seen the hotels linked around a new area that includes a 65-metre lagoon style pool. Ways to stay include villas with private pools, and stylish suites with large lounge and entertaining areas with views of the lagoon pool or airport.

When it’s time to eat you can choose between indoor and outdoor dining at the Poorhouse Bar & Kitchen where dishes include local seafood with Californian twists, and casual alfresco meals at the Splash Cafe.

Mindil Beach Casino Resort

Set on 30 acres of gardens just one minute’s walk from the beach, the Mindil Beach Casino Resort has 154 rooms and luxury suites to choose from including some where you can step straight into the lagoon pool from your private deck.

The resort’s spacious hotel rooms come with private balconies or patios and have everything you’d expect from a 4-star hotel, while the resort rooms are more 5-star luxury with extra touches and facilities.

As well as having Darwin’s only swim-up bar, the resort has a private white-sand beach, two in-house restaurants to dine in, as well as live DJs by the pool on the weekends.
