I remember the first time I was in America for the Black Friday sales. There was all of this anticipation in the air before the doors opened and then a sense of urgency to get around as many places as possible and grab the best bargains in record time.
As an Australian it took me back to the old Boxing Day sales in Australia and when we first started talking about Black Friday down here I’ll admit I resisted the whole Americanisation of Australian shopping thing.
But the thing is, the Americans had a much better system than we did. Rather than everything going on sale the day after Christmas like we did down here, they cleverly did it after Thanksgiving so people could buy all their Christmas gifts for the following month.
And hey, who doesn’t like extra sales. So I’m now totally on board with the whole Black Friday idea, and have a list of things I’ve been wanting to buy for a while but have been holding off until those sales kicked in.
That said, some companies are getting in early and have already started releasing their Black Friday deals. Which makes it perfect for not only shopping for other people, but snapping up holiday bargains for ourselves.
Here’s a look at some of the Black Friday travel sales you should have on your radar right now.
Booking.com
From the 18th of November until the 1st of December 2021 the Booking.com Black Friday sale has at least 30% off selected rooms and properties.
While you’ll have to move fast to snap up the bargains, you can go at a more leisurely pace when it comes to your stays. The discounted rates can be used from the 18th of November 2021 until the 30th of June 2022 inclusive.
Wotif
With at least 20% off – and in some cases up to a whopping 75% off – Australian and international hotels, Wotif’s ‘Not your usual Black Friday sale’ has hundreds of options to choose from.
Standouts include up to 50% off the Viceroy Bali and 40% off select accommodation at the Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa in Phuket. The Wotif sale runs from the 16th to 30th November 2021 for stays up until the 30th of April 2022.
Klook
“Choose your end of year adventure.” Klook’s Black Friday sale page has a few ways to go including a deal for the theme park lovers. Well, those who are fast enough to snap it up that is.

They’ll be dropping a promocode on the Klook site at 11am (AEDT) each day from the 26th to 29th of November where the first 100 customers will score a buy one get one deal on theme park tickets, including Universal Studios Singapore, Disneyland Los Angeles, Warner Bros Harry Potter in the United Kingdom, and Dreamworld in Gold Coast, Australia.
If you’re too slow to grab that one, or if rollercoasters aren’t your thing, you can also get 10% off all activities and experiences on Klook using the code ‘CYBEREXPLORE10’ and 15% off all car rentals on Klook using the code ‘CYBERCAR15’over the same days. As the Klook team puts it, ‘you deserve it for being cooped up for two years.”
European Waterways
After taking a luxury barge trip through Burgundy with European Waterways a few years ago I know just how incredible these trips can be. The 2022 hotel barging season is already running hot but European Waterways has announced it’s reserving a limited number of 2022 spring departures in France for their Black Friday specials.
The 30% off Black Friday deals are valid when booked from the 26th of November through to the 3rd of December 2021 and include three of their most popular luxury hotel barges in France, L’Impressionniste (which I went on and loved), L’Art de Vivre and Anjodi.
Cunard
From the 25th to the 30th of November 2021, Cunard’s Black Friday Sale will be offering 25% or more off select Australian homeport voyages.
The sale will include Inside, Outside and Balcony staterooms on the Queen Elizabeth departing in 2022/23 with deals starting from AU$449 on short sail itineraries including two nights Sydney to Melbourne, and a three night Tasmania roundtrip from Melbourne starting at $699 (fares based on twin share).

While it’s just a holding page at the time of writing this story, you’ll be able to find the Cunard Black Friday sales page here from the 25th of November.
Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants
While these Black Friday deals may not include the new Kimpton Margot Sydney, which will become one of Sydney’s hottest new hotels when it opens next year, it does offer discounts on a long list of other Kimptons from Tulum to New York.
The Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants sale is on until the 6th of December for stays from 26th November 2021 through to 30th April 2022 with up to 25% off their best Flexible Rate. Bookings include all the perks including nightly hosted wine hour, complimentary public bikes, free WiFi and morning coffee and tea.
CitizenM Hotels
Another deal that is already live and taking bookings, the CitizenM Hotels Black Friday sale offers up to 30% off hotel rooms from now until the 30th of April 2022.
The sale will continue until 30th November and covers 23 of their hotels including their latest additions in Downtown Los Angeles and San Francisco Union Square.
G Adventures
Sure, they’re calling it a Cyber Sale rather than a Black Friday Sale, but these deals are already live so if you’re ready for an adventure, get to it.
G Adventures Cyber Sale is offering up to 30 per cent off on more than 400 itineraries departing before 31 October 2022. That includes their 18-to-Thirtysomethings, Active, Classic, Family, Local Living and Marine travel styles. Sale ends 3rd December, 2021.
Bose
Noise cancelling headphones, earbuds, portable speakers and more are all ready to be slashed by up to 40% on Bose’s Black Friday sales page. They’re including some of their most popular products in the sale with the Bose Headphones 700 on the discounted list. The sales also include free returns and a 90-day risk-free trial.
The Good Guys
Another one that’s starting (some of) those Black Friday sales early, The Good Guys has a page dedicated to the sales so far, with more deals being unlocked in the lead up to the big day. While they may not be a travel company, they do sell lots of things we can take on our travels including noise cancelling headphones, digital cameras, GoPros, FitBits and more.
Amazon
Then of course there’s that mega online mall, Amazon, where the Black Friday deals are already underway. While the full tilt 48-hour Amazon Black Friday sale will start on Thursday the 25th of November 2021, they’re already sharing discounts on a whole range of products.
If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed by choice, you can always get a few gift ideas from Oprah on the Oprah’s Favourite Things list, where you can find up to 20% off select items up until the 31st of December. There’s also an Experts’ Gift Picks Guide with tips from celebrities including Jessica Alba and media outlets like BuzzFeed and Refinery29 to help narrow that gift search.
So there we have it. The sales that are already underway and the ones you may want to set your alarm for. Wherever you’re hoping to go and whatever you’re hoping to snap up, happy Black Friday sale hunting.
