Shark Island, Sydney Harbour

You know how looking at some photos just fills you with good memories and makes you happy?

That’s how I feel whenever I look at this one I took of the view back onto Sydney from Shark Island in the middle of Sydney Harbour.

Shark Island, Sydney

I’ve been having my birthday on Shark Island for many, many years (well, except for my London years of course, and a couple extreme weather exceptions). But most birthdays you’ll find me out there with friends having a wonderful old time.

Shark Island is only around one and a half hectares, and can be found about a kilometre off Rose Bay in Sydney Harbour.

There are no BBQ facilities out there, but you can take picnics, and they have drinking water, toilets, a gazebo and picnic shelters around the island. Just make sure you take all of your rubbish with you at the end of the day to keep Shark Island beautiful.

It’s such a gorgeous spot, and by the end of a picnic on Shark Island it feels like you’ve really gotten away for more than a day. To find out more or to book a visit, go to the NSW National Parks website.

How’s the serenity….

  2. Have you been to the shark island of Costa Rica? Aka Cocos island? Or the shark island of Namibia? 🙂
